CUSTOMS statistics show China's textiles and garments exports surged 69.7 per cent in February to US$16.48 billion year on year,
compared to 31.8 per cent growth posted in the first two months of this year, reports Guangzhou financial portal www.gucheng.
com reports.
Many think the textile industry is back on the fast track as demand in major markets increases and the world economy continues to
recover, despite doubts expressed about a sustainable recovery.
China recorded a foreign trade value of $139.37 billion in February, up 21.8 per cent year on year. Textile exports grew 38.08 per
cent to $5.89 billion. Garment exports surged 94.36 per cent to $10.59 billion.
But domestic demand is not as good as expected. In January and February, the sales volume of the top 100 garment markets in China
increased only six per cent to CNY46.3 billion (US$7.45 billion).
